Mesothelioma is most preciously known as a malignant Mesothelioma which is a rare form of cancer which is develops from the protective lining that covers many body’s internal organs. It mostly occurred by the exposure to asbestos. It is caused by one of the most common site name pleura which are usually the outer lining of the lungs and the internal chest cavity. There are several other body parts where it can occur. They are most commonly called peritoneum which is the lining of the abdominal cavity and the pericardium which is a sac that surrounds the heart. It may also attack the tunica vaginalis which is a sac that surrounds the testis.
The signs or symptoms of Mesothelioma cancer may not arise before 20 to 50 years or more after exposure to asbestos. Shortness of breath, cough and pain to chest due to an accommodation of fluid in the pleural space are often symptoms of pleural Mesothelioma. The most common signs and symptoms are as follows:
1. Pain in the Chest wall
2. Pleural effusion, or fluid surrounding the lung
3. There will be a shortness of breath
4. Fatigue or anemia
5. Wheezing, hoarseness, or cough
6. Blood in the sputum(fluid) coughed up (hemoptysis)
In several cases the person may have many tumor masses. The person may enroot a pneumothorax, or collapse of the lung. The disease may spread to other parts of the body.
Now we have gathered some information of what is Mesothelioma? After it is being detected we need to do a proper diagnosis of it. Such a diagnosis is really very difficult because the symptoms are largely similar to those of a number of other conditions.
